The partner link in the masthead and in the band beside the copy on this page is a sponsored link to a partner operator, and this site may be paid if you open an account through it, at no extra cost to you. It carries rel="sponsored noopener" and opens in a new tab. A desk about who a wager belongs to should not leave its own funding unsaid: one link funds the site, no operator is named, rated or recommended anywhere on it, and no operator is described by any figure on it.

One proxy wager, from the stake to the claim

One wager with every figure attached: A hands 200.00 to B, B places it on B own account at a price the operator sets, the agent fee is 10.00, it returns 500.00. The operator owes B and pays B; A recovers 490.00 only if B agrees. The whole arrangement is decided before the bet is struck, not after it wins.

Direct answer

A hands 200.00 to B, who places it on an account in B name. The agent fee is 10.00, the wager returns 500.00, and the operator owes the 500.00 to B because B is the name on the account. A can recover 490.00 from B if B agrees, and nothing directly from the operator.

A asks B to place it on B account A hands over 200.00 B places it on an account in B name 200.00 agent fee at 5.0% 10.00 the wager returns 500.00 net of the fee, B is holding 490.00 for A the operator pays B 500.00 the operator pays A 0.00 A recovers from B 490.00 if B agrees so the whole bet turns on B, and B was never asked to agree to anything by the operator

Where each figure is decided

The stake is decided by A, the price by the operator, the fee by the arrangement and the payout by the name on the account. Only the last of the four is fixed by a rule rather than an agreement, which is why it is the one that cannot be renegotiated after the fact.

The 10.00 fee is what an agent charges in this sample; a friend charges nothing and takes the same risk, which is why the desk treats the fee as a detail and the name as the subject.
